Â鶹´«Ã½AV is once again supporting the annual conference and skills debate, taking place on 26 June 2024.

The free interactive event, open to CCATF members and wider UK construction organisations and industry stakeholders, will address the significant changes and adjustments, both implemented and proposed, which are set to impact considerably upon and shape the ways skills provision, qualifications, learning and apprenticeships are offered within the sector.

Â鶹´«Ã½AV brings its extensive experience in construction skills as an Awarding Organisation, Apprenticeship End Point Assessment Organisation, and Construction Plant Competency Scheme (CPCS) card issuer and assessor.

Â鶹´«Ã½AV chief executive Graham Hasting-Evans, who will be co-Chairing the event, says:

“The UK’s construction sector is one of the country’s leading economic drivers; however, in recent years, the sector has faced a number of issues which threaten to derail ongoing projects and stifle future growth. These include a severe skills shortage, an aging workforce and the pressing need for digital transformation and sustainability practices. As the industry recovers from the impacts of Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of addressing these challenges has never been greater.

“The CCATF Conference 2024 is a crucial event for industry leaders, policymakers, educators and employers to come together to discuss these pressing issues. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to hear from and engage with leading figures in the construction sector, providing a platform for meaningful discussion on the skills landscape and the future of the industry.”

Martyn Price MBE, Chairman of CCATF, added:

“The construction sector has and continues to face many challenges. These include an ageing workforce, an ever-increasing shortage of skilled labour, severe competition from rival sectors for new entrant talent, and the need to address innovation, embed environmental and sustainability practices and embrace digital transformation.

"The Conference will hear from a variety of highly regarded construction influencers on these and many other topical issues. Thereafter the CCATF will seek to articulate consensus views to the new government following the general election result on 4th July."

Event highlights:

Keynote addresses: Insights from Mark Farmer, CEO of Cast Consulting, co-chair of Consulting Excellence and independent lead of the CITB review, and others, as they share their vision for the future of the construction industry.

Panel discussions: Engaging sessions featuring industry experts discussing topics such as workforce development, innovative training methods, and sustainable construction practices.

Interactive debates: Attendees can participate in discussion and contribute their perspectives on how to address the sector’s most pressing challenges.

Also attending will be representatives from the Department for Education, Constructions Skills Certifications Scheme (CSCS), and other industry leaders.

A light lunch will be provided.
