Fire Door Installation Awareness Course

This course has been developed through collaborative working with the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) to promote awareness in the construction industry of the factors involved in the appropriate installation of timber fire doors.

This course was developed to give an overview of the product and its primary purpose. There are practical aspects that cover the general UI and menu structures as well as the data workflow.

Course Content

  • The role of timber fire door assemblies and door sets and why it is important that they are installed correctly
  • Understanding how fire door assemblies and door sets work and their place in the wider passive fire protection system
  • Legislation and guidance associated with fire door assemblies and door sets
  • Considerations before installing fire door assemblies and door sets
  • Considerations when installing fire door assemblies and door sets
  • Considerations on completion of the installation of fire door assemblies and door sets.

  • Assessment: Written Assessment

Who is this course designed for?

This course will benefit anyone who works with fire doors and fulfils the requirement for the Level 3 Advanced Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship Standard.

Train The Trainer

  • There is a no train-the-trainer course, but the course has strict trainer requirements (see the course specification for more details) and centres must be licenced to deliver this course by the BWF (there is a £750 license fee).
